Product Description
This small dish features powder based murrine each containing many layers of clear and colored glass formed into a hexagon by fusing twenty-four triangular pieces of murrine. The many layers of color create a vibrant and opaque pattern when viewed from a lower angle but show lots of light through the clear when viewed directly above.

Xander is a glass artist living and working in Spruce Pine, NC. His work is based upon traditional murrine and cane glassmaking techniques popularized by 16th century Venetian glassmakers. Employing these techniques he creates intricate decorative tiles and plates taking particular inspiration from Islamic geometry and the works of biologist Ernst Haeckel.
