This is a fourfold quilt-block pattern featuring Opal White and Tobacco colored glasses. The pattern is made of a single cell murrine that has been combined and re-combined to create this pattern that is based on right triangles.

Xander is a glass artist living and working in Spruce Pine, NC. His work is based upon traditional murrine and cane glassmaking techniques popularized by 16th century Venetian glassmakers. Employing these techniques he creates intricate decorative tiles and plates taking particular inspiration from Islamic geometry and the works of biologist Ernst Haeckel.
